The FDA is proposing to change labels on testosterone therapy, widening access to it.
But men considering the treatment should be cautious.
A recent study found men who use testosterone without evidence of low levels may face a higher risk of heart issues or even death.
Researchers looked at data from electronic health records of about 359,000 men taking the hormone.
After about 10 years of taking it, men who didn't have low levels had about a 50 percent higher risk of serious heart problems.
That includes a heart attack, stroke, and cardiac arrest.
And the risk of death is nearly twice as high.
Researchers say anyone considering taking testosterone should have a full clinical evaluation first.
