The American Heart Association's new scientific statement says that drinking five 8-oz cups (or up to 400 mg) of caffeinated coffee per day is safe for most adults and may even have heart health benefits, including a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, heart failure and type 2 diabetes in some people, reports HuffPost Life. That may be because coffee is rich in antioxidants that reduce inflammation and support healthy blood sugar.

But you'll need to hold the cream and sugar (sorry). And don't go overboard: Guzzling high concentrations of caffeine like energy drinks or shots can raise the risk of high blood pressure, an irregular heartbeat or both.
