Being a labor nurse is more than "just a job" to this Gen Z woman, who does something special after every birth to ensure she remembers it forever.
Racking up 5.5 million views on TikTok, Jayuanna Thomas, 25 (@jayuanna.lenee), can be seen holding a jar filled with mostly blue and pink beads. In total, there are 211 beads—each one representing a baby she has delivered.
"I like to get to know my patients as people and not just as my patient for the night," she told Newsweek. "This fosters such a strong connection between me and their families and makes the entire birth experience more enjoyable!"
According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) a little over 3.6 million births were reported in 2024. For Thomas, it has become a personal mission to never forget the babies she has helped bring into the world.
