A new documentary is exploring the life of former health guru Susan Powter and how she went from owning a million-dollar fitness empire to working as an Uber Eats driver in Las Vegas to make ends meet.
"Stop the Insanity: Finding Susan Powter" premiered at the Bentonville Film Festival in Arkansas last week. The film, directed by Zebreriah Newman and executive produced by Jamie Lee Curtis, charts Powter's rise and fall and why she disappeared from the world.
Despite establishing a wildly successful fitness program, Powter lost her empire which she attributes to unscrupulous business associates. After years of litigation, Power declared bankruptcy in 1995, according to a 2024 interview with People.
