Changing the way you eat in middle age may still be associated with years of additional life.
A major study published in Science Advances found that 45-year-old men with the highest adherence to healthy dietary patterns were estimated to have 1.9 to 3.0 additional years of life expectancy compared with men with the lowest adherence.
The researchers followed 103,649 UK Biobank participants for a median of 10.6 years and analyzed five established approaches to healthy eating. Over the study period, 4,314 participants died. (UK Biobank)
And one eating pattern produced the largest estimated longevity advantage for men.
