Creatine is everywhere right now – everyone from your colleague to your neighbour seems to be taking it. And, if you’re (peri)menopausal, it might be time to consider supplementing with it, too.
More than just another social media trend, creatine is one of the most well-researched supplements out there, and has been used by athletes and gymgoers for years to support muscle growth and recovery. Now, however, it has also been gaining traction in wider health and wellness circles for its potential cognitive health benefits.
In that vein, a team of researchers at St. Olaf College in Minnesota decided to study the potential health benefits for menopausal women.
‘While creatine is one of the most researched supplements in sports nutrition, there’s a noticeable lack of data on how it impacts women during midlife and hormonal transition,’ says the study’s lead author, Lauren Hall.
