IF YOU'RE ANYWHERE on the internet on a regular basis, you've probably seen an ad (or seven) for VShred. They typically involve a muscled up guy working out, telling you why your last diet failed, and promoting the company's workout programs, such as Get Ripped in 90 Days or Fat Loss Extreme.
VShred provides virtual training and nutrition programs, claiming that these system will be the end to your yo-yo dieting and finally help you build a better body. The company was founded in 2016 by Vince Sant (the guy you'll typically see starring in those social media ads). It's been fast growing ever since. VShred claims on their website that they have just over 3 million members.
But the more you dig into VShred's nutrition programs, the more complicated it gets. And I say that as a registered dietitian with decades of experience helping clients meet their nutrition goals.
Watch or read any of VShred’s marketing material and you'll notice claims around hormones and metabolism—and particularly that VShred says it leverages a Harvard-discovered secret loophole to help people lose weight. To deepen the mystery even further, VShred argues that the rest of the world doesn’t know about this loophole.
